This policy explains what data Anxiety.com collects, how we use it, and your rights. It is written to be intelligible; where legal terms are unavoidable, we explain them. If you have questions, email privacy@anxiety.com.

The short version

What we collect

Quiz answers

The Anxiety Profile assessment runs entirely in your browser. Your individual question answers are held in your browser's memory during the quiz and are not transmitted to our servers. When you complete the quiz, the computed result (GAD-7 score, severity band, profile code, and modality preference) is written to the URL of the result page. Individual answers to each question are not stored server-side.

Site analytics (opt-in only)

Only if you accept the consent banner, we collect aggregate analytics: page views, which pages you scroll on, and which outbound partner links you click. If you completed the assessment, the derived result (severity band, 4-letter profile code, and modality preference) is included in these events so we can understand which recommendations are getting clicked. Individual quiz answers are never sent.

A short anonymous session ID (12 random characters) is stored in your browser's localStorage under the key anxsid so we can correlate events from a single visit. It is not linked to your name, email, or any other identifier.

If you decline the consent banner, no analytics are collected at all — no session ID, no events, no server-side logging (beyond standard web-server access logs which any web server produces).

Referral tracking

When you click a partner recommendation, the destination link includes anonymous tracking parameters (which partner, which severity band, which profile code) so we can be credited for the referral. This information is shared with the destination partner only as needed to attribute the referral — it does not include your name, email, or IP.

Email and voluntary contact

If you email us or (in the future) subscribe to a newsletter, we retain your email and any content you share with us so we can respond and communicate. We do not sell this data. You can unsubscribe or request deletion at any time.

What we don't do

HIPAA

Anxiety.com is not a HIPAA-covered entity: we are not a healthcare provider, health plan, or clearinghouse. If you use a partner service we refer you to, that service (a licensed provider) is a HIPAA-covered entity, and their privacy practices govern the data they collect from you. We do not receive protected health information (PHI) from those partners.

State health privacy laws

Washington My Health My Data Act

If you are a Washington resident, the state's My Health My Data Act treats certain data collected on this site as "consumer health data." You have the right to know what consumer health data we have collected about you, request deletion, and withdraw consent for our processing. To exercise these rights, email privacy@anxiety.com.

California CMIA and CCPA/CPRA

If you are a California resident, you have rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act and its amendments (CCPA/CPRA), and the California Confidentiality of Medical Information Act (CMIA) may apply to some data we handle. You have the right to know what personal information we collect, request deletion, and opt out of any sale of personal information (we do not currently sell personal information). Contact privacy@anxiety.com to exercise these rights.

Nevada SB 370

If you are a Nevada resident, the state's health-data privacy statute (SB 370) affords similar rights. Same contact.

Other states

State-level health-data privacy laws are proliferating; we honor equivalent rights for residents of any state with an applicable statute even where not specifically enumerated here.

GDPR / non-US users

Anxiety.com is intended for US users. If you access the site from the European Union, United Kingdom, or another jurisdiction with strong data-protection laws, we honor the equivalent of the rights above — access, correction, deletion, and objection to processing. Contact privacy@anxiety.com.

Cookies

We use a small set of cookies: one to remember your preference for showing/hiding the crisis banner across sessions, and analytics cookies described above. We do not currently use advertising cookies.

Children

Anxiety.com is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from users under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided data through the site, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

When we make material changes to this policy, we update the "last updated" date at the top and, where feasible, notify users through a site banner. Continued use of the site after a policy change constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.

Manage your consent

You can review or change your analytics-consent decision any time. This will reset your choice and re-show the consent banner on your next page view:

Current consent state is stored in your browser's localStorage under the key anxconsent. Clearing your browser data will reset it automatically.
